Hall Of Shame Game

After waiting 6 months for the new football season to finally kick-off, I can speak for all football fans and say that it was a disappointment. The cancellation of the 2016 Hall Of Fame Game is a crucial one, not only for the fans who traveled many miles to be there, but for the players whose careers are on the line as they try to secure a spot on the team. This game will not be made up causing the players to have one less chance to showcase their skills on the field in their specialized positions. For the fans, they were promised a full reimbursement for the game, and had the opportunity to watch the 2016 Hall Of Fame inductees announced on the field. The game was cancelled due to field conditions being potentially hazardous to the players, as there were paint issues making field slippery. I can’t say it was the wrong decision especially for the Green Bay Packers who lost their star wide out, Jordy Nelson, to an injury in the first preseason game last year. However, we can also make the argument that this game is played at Tom Benson Hall Of Fame Stadium every year, and there was adequate time to prepare for such an event, making this cancellation inexcusable. For the newly drafted players, I can only hope that this poor planning will not weigh too heavily on their future with the NFL.
